- About
- The primary instructor of the three-dimensional area, Professor McMahon extends her interests to revisionist art history and to that end has assembled an extensive data base of books and periodicals related to women in art. In addition to presenting lectures offering a feminist perspective at the Hunter Museum of American Art, Veronezh Art Institute and State University in Russia, she has developed and taught a Women's Issues in Art class for the department. Her commitment to broad-based experiences for her majors is evidenced by her development of a cross cultural Russian exchange. Since 1993 she has been invited to serve on the summer faculty at the South Carolina Governor School for the Arts at Furman University. In 1994 her teaching was recognized when she received the University of Tennessee National Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher award. Her own creative work, mixed media sculpture and wheel-thrown vessel forms, is regionally and nationally recognized through solo and group exhibitions.
