- About
- Dr. Gavin Townsend is a Professor of Art History. While he teaches courses on Western Art from Prehistory to the present, his specialty is the history of Twentieth Century architecture. He has contributed essays to such journals as Arris, Art Papers, The Winterthur Portfolio, the MacMillan Dictionary of Art, as well as a chapters in such volumes as Long Island Estates and Their Architects and A History of Tennessee Arts. Dr. Townsend is former director of the Honors Program at UTC, Past President of the Faculty Senate, and a member of the Board of the Tennessee Historical Commission.
